The Hamamelis indeed has very dramatic color changes in autumn. It is my favorite shrub...mine blooms yellow and is very fragrant! I have an orange one also but it does not bloom very exciting like the yellow. The leaves stay on long during the cold winters...they hang tight! I love asters too and my Oma did also. I love that you talked about your friends Oma's flowers living on....very touching!
My dogwood trees are so glorious in Autumn...the berries for the birds, the colorful leaves for me! I am happy!

I love the purple Aster, there is one in our butterfly garden but it hasn't bloomed since I got it. I do hope it is this lovely purple color.
