Die Knospen von Prunus nipponica var. kurilensis „Brilliant“ sind leicht rosa überhaucht, doch die geöffneten Blüten sind strahlendweiß.
Fast so weiß wie die Hyazinthe "Carnegie".
Verblüffenderweise verfärben sie sich im Verblühen aber wieder zu rosa. Das hatte ich gar nicht erwartet.
Und nehmen damit die Farbe der Mandelbaumblüten an.
Damit ist mein persönliches Kirschblütenfest fast an seinem Ende angelangt. Denn die zarten Blütenblätter fallen schon im Wind. Später im Jahr gibt es dann noch einmal - wörtlich - ein Highlight mit den Farben des Herbstlaubes.

I love your pictures -- they are not flowers I recognize, except the hyacinth, which is one of my favorites. I absolutely love the way they smell & while they were blooming I always cut one to have by my desk while I'm working. I bought new bulbs to plant last fall -- but alas it never happened...I'll put them in this fall and see if they bloom next year!

These are beautiful photos. I love all flowering trees, but I think my favorite is Chaenomeles (really a shrub - and the flowers are the most attractive things about it).
